What is Oracle Applications/Oracle E-Business Suite ?
To facilitate big businesses, Oracle Corporation have created collection of software in
the category of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) known as modules, that are
integrated to talk to each other and known as Oracle Applications or E-Business
Suite.

Oracle E-Business Suite Releases:
10.7 : Oldest Release of Oracle ERP which is character, thin client based. Oracle has
stopped support for this release from year 1998.

R12 : Latest Release Of EBS by Oracle .

Architecture:
Oracle EBS R12 Applications is a three-tiered architecture.
1.Desktop Tier – Forms Client Applet,Desktop Java Client(sun JRE)
2.Application Tier – containing the application server(TechStack components – Apache,Forms,Report,CMs).
3.Database Tier – containing the database (stand-alone or RAC).


Common Tasks of Apps DBA:
Installing
Configuring -License manager,adsplice,autoconfig,context editor..etc
Maintaining – AD utilities like adadmin,adrelink,adcmctl..etc
Application Patching – – family packs/mini packs/maintenance packs etc.
Cloning
Upgrading
Sysadmin tasks
Troubleshooting on day-to-day activities.
Monitoring the Concurrent Managers queue
Changing the Oracle Apps Passwords.
Printer setups
Monitor Workflow related services.
